Assignments
Although detectives have a primary case assignment, our goal is to develop a cross-functional team of investigators that can produce quality investigations on all crimes. To accomplish this, all of our detectives help each other and take active roles in cases outside the scope of their primary assignment.
The Sparks Police Department participates in the Regional Officer Involved Shooting Protocol providing investigative resources in partnership with the Reno Police Department and Washoe County Sheriff’s Office to conduct objective, multi-agency investigations when law enforcement officers or deputies are involved in a shooting. All of our detectives, regardless of assignment, participate in these investigations.
All investigative personnel alternate being on stand-by during off hours and respond to take responsibility for investigations when necessary.
Division Objective
All of our Detectives are committed to conducting and providing detailed and thorough investigations that exceed prosecutorial standards. We strive to accomplish this goal to ensure we are providing the best service possible to our Citizens.
