The Sparks Crime Suppression Unit (CSU) was formed in November of 2007. The mission is to proactively address crime trends or other problems identified through Crime Analysis and the COMSTAT model.
The CSU is comprised of 5 detectives. Detectives in the CSU do not carry case loads to ensure they are able to respond to identified problems in a timely fashion. The unit is designed to be responsive to the needs of patrol officers and detectives and to address crime trends and quality of life issues.
The Sergeant assigned to supervise the CSU assists in identify and tracking crime trends and other problems and assigns these issues to the unit to address.
The CSU operates out of the Detective Division under the direction of the Detective Division Commander.
